Client vs. Driver
Athens-Clarke County
Type Case: Wrongful Death (no lawsuit filed, confidential settlement reached)
Result: Driver ran into another vehicle and killed one passenger and seriously injured another. Negligent driver on carried minimum 25K in insurance. However, through independent investigation we discovered driver was making a delivery for UBER Eats at the time and there was an additional 1 million dollars in insurance available which we were able to collect for the family.

Type Case: Driver hit cyclist. Serious Injury (no lawsuit filed, confidential settlement reached).
Result: Cyclist was struck by driver and sustained serious injuries. We were able to collect the driver’s insurance limits, which were minimal, as well as my client’s UM limits. As important, we were able to beat back completely any and all subrogation claims by Blue Cross Blue Shield.
L.S vs. B-----
Morgan County
Type Case: Wrongful Death (no lawsuit filed, confidential settlement reached)
Result: Cyclist was struck and killed by an inattentive driver. We were successful and collecting not only the policy limits from the at-fault driver, but also policy limits under 2 additional UIM policies. Helped the family through probate and eventually wound up estate.
M.E. and B. M. vs. W. H.
Athens-Clarke County Superior Court
Type Case: Serious Injury (vehicle)
Result: DUI driver plowed into cyclists, seriously injuring M.E. B.M. escaped serious injury. We filed a lawsuit and reached a confidential settlement for full policy limits for both cyclists, even though B.M. escaped any real physical injury.

State Court of Athens-Clarke County (Case # ST-13-CV-0368)
Plaintiff, a student at UGA, was hit by Defendant while she was riding her bike on Prince Avenue. She suffered no broken bones but did receive a deep laceration on her arm. Plaintiff incurred $25,000 worth of medical bills. Case settled prior to trial for $125,000.
C vs. Athens Nail Salon
Athens-Clarke County
Plaintiff received a pedicure at a local nail salon. Her foot was cut while being rubbed with a pumice stone and a severe infection ultimately occurred. Plaintiff incurred $30,000 worth of medical bills. Case settled for $200,000 on the day before Plaintiff's time demand expired.

State Court of Cobb County (Case # 2012A-1349-2)
A minor child was seriously injured in a car wreck. He suffered a traumatic brain injury. Prior to filing suit, the insurance company offered $132,000 to settle. Plaintiffs rejected offer and filed suit. After the trial testimony of 5 treating doctors was taken by deposition, just prior to trial, the case settled for just under 1 million dollars.

Result: Jury Trial: $240,000 total award (judgment affirmed on appeal)

Superior Court of Barrow County (Case No. 98-CV-180-M))
Type of Action: Fraud. My clients sought damages against a builder based on fraud and negligence.
Result: Jury Trial: $68,500 verdict including attorney fees awarded by jury.

Type of Action: Civil Fraud
Result: Binding Arbitration: $250,000 judgment affirmed by Superior Court of Barrow County.

Superior Court of Athens-Clarke County (Case No SU-04-CV-0419)
Type of Action: I defended an individual on a civil claim of terroristic threats. He was sued for 1 million dollars and accused of pointing a gun at the plaintiff and terrorizing his family. My client denied the claim.
Result: Jury Trial: Defense verdict.

Superior Court of Athens-Clarke County (Case No.SU-01-CV-0983)
Charge: I defended a home seller accused of fraudulent concealment in connection with the sale of a home. The Plaintiff sought rescission of a $250,000 contract plus punitive damages and attorney fees.
Result: Jury Trial: Defense Verdict.
Georgia Farm Bureau vs. H---, et al
Superior Court of Madison County (Case No 95-M-CV-206-G)
Type of Action: Declaratory Judgment: Car insurance company sought to deny coverage to my injured client and filed suit. Case proceeded to trial on issue of insurance coverage.
Result: Jury Trial: Judgment in favor of my client. Successful recovery for personal injuries followed.

Superior Court of Madison County (Case No. Case No.05-MV-022)
Charge: I defended a horse breeder and boarder accused of negligent boarding of an expensive race horse. The horse was severely injured while in my client’s care. The Plaintiff sought compensatory and punitive damages, as well as attorney fees.
Result: Jury Trial: Defense Verdict. Attorney’s fees awarded to my client by jury.
